Local Swimmer Earns Five Medals

Wallaceburg's Madison Broad had an impressive showing at the Western Ontario Swimming Association finals in London this weekend.

The 14-year-old earned two gold medals in the 50m back stroke and 50m breast stroke. She added two silvers in the 50m freestyle and 50m fly, and snagged a bronze in the 100m individual medley to bring her total medal count to five.

In the 50m freestyle, Broad set a new best time of 27.70 seconds. She also placed in four other events throughout the weekend.

Up next, Broad will compete in the provincial championships held July 2-5.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
