Busy Summer For Broad

It feels like 14-year-old Madison Broad has spent more time in the pool than out of it this summer.

The Chatham-Kent native is coming off a five-medal performance at the Canadian Age Group Championships, and multiple appearances at the national swimming championships in Montreal.

Broad says she thrives on the national stage. "It was good because I faced more competition from all around Canada, as opposed to the province or in the region." She adds the 50m backstroke is her best event. "It's short and sweet, and very easy to make it or not, depending on the time."

Broad had a personal-best finish at this year's Canadian Swimming Championships, placing 9th in the 50m backstroke final.
