Lions Open Pre-Season Tonight

The Detroit Lions open the pre-season tonight when they host the New York Jets at Ford Field.

Typically starters see a limited number of reps in the first pre-season game. As for running back Ameer Abdullah, senior writer for detroitlions.com Tim Twentyman expects the rookie will get a little more work.

"It's hard to evaluate running backs in practice because you certainly do have some padded practice, you don't have many live sessions and you can't really tell what a running back is going to do," says Twentyman. "It's what he's about, how good he is unless you're in full pads and there's contact." Twentyman says fans should also keep an eye on tight end Eric Ebron, who's looked sharp in Training Camp.

Kick-off is set for 7:30pm.
