Lakers Host Rival Kings

The Hwy. 78 rivalry will renew itself for another season tonight as the Wallaceburg Lakers play their Great Lakes Jr. C hockey home opener against Dresden.

Lakers head coach and GM Marc Swayze is new to the club, but he's already trying to change the team's culture.

"We have to come with a little more competitive and a more professional attitude to the rink," says Swayze. "I think we can be competitive every single night."

Swayze is trying to guide the Lakers to the playoffs this year after they finished dead last in the league last season.

"The losses suck, but you can't get too low -- you have to try to stay even keel and stop yourself from getting in a rut," says Swayze.

The Lakers opened their season with a 3-1 loss in Mooretown. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm tonight in Wallaceburg.
