Dutton's Jason Hathaway Drives For NASCAR Title

A Dutton native is looking for a championship title during the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series finale on Saturday.

Jason Hathaway will hit the track at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough for the 250-lap race.

Hathaway is tied for second in the series, nine points behind three-time championship winner Scott Steckly.

Hathaway says he's been racing cars for over 20 years and this is his first chance at a championship title.

"It's pretty special for my team and myself. We didn't even think we were going to run the whole season and here we are with a shot at the championship," he says. "It's a little bit of an underdog story being nine points back but... we're going after it for sure."

The qualifying race kicks off at 3pm on Saturday with the championship race starting at 5pm.
