Spits Trade Goalie And Left-Winger For Draft Picks

The Windsor Spitfires have traded two of their players for a number of draft picks.

The hockey club announced on Wednesday that left-winger Daniil Vertiy, along with Saginaw's tenth round pick in 2016, will be traded to the North Bay Battalion. In exchange, the Spitfires will receive Windsor's fourth pick in 2017 which was originally sent to North Bay, and North Bay's sixth round selection in 2016.

“We're deep at forward this year,” says Spitfires General Manager Warren Rychel in a media release. “Danny is a great kid and a talented player. We wish him the best. I'm sure he'll do well with the young group they have up in North Bay.”

Rychel has also traded 20-year-old goaltender Michael Giugovaz to Guelph in exchange for the Storm's tenth round selection in 2016.

“Giggy played well for us,” says Rychel. “Ultimately, it came down to the fact we had three other goalies. We're happy we could find him a place to finish out his OHL overage season.”
