NBLC Not Tolerating Unsportsmanlike Behavior

The National Basketball League of Canada is implementing a number of new rules this coming season, as it works to restore a professional image.

After the championship forfeit debacle back in the spring, new commissioner David Magley is instilling rules around sportsmanship, including a post-game handshake line, and coaches having to stay within "coaching boxes" during games.

Windsor Express President Dartis Willis says a business-casual dress code is also being more strictly enforced for scratched or injured players sitting court-side.

"I think all of those things just add to a more organized, more professional, better delivered overall (product), from the time (fans) come in the door to the time they leave."

A new league-wide drug policy is also going into affect.

Willis says the Express have been conducting drug tests since their inception, but he's glad rules have come into place to unify the league.
