Junior Hockey Wrap Up – December 11, 2015

In Great Lakes Junior C hockey on Friday, the Wheatley Sharks fell 11-3 to the Dresden Kings.

Derrick VanEvery and Dillon Liberty led the Kings with two goals each. Eric Prudence, Brett Bowman and Delaney MacDonald scored a goal each for the Sharks.

The Essex 73's hammered the Alvinston Flyers 10-3. Tyler Turner, Michael Vieira and Matt Zelko were the top scorers for Essex with two goals each.

And the Lakeshore Canadiens beat the Mooretown Flags 5-2.  Brenden Crundwell led Lakeshore by scoring two goals.

In Junior B hockey, the LaSalle Vipers edged the St. Thomas Stars 6-5. Manny Silverio, Eric Kirby, Liam MacDougall, Connor Rosaasen, Matthew Doucette and Tyler Russell scored one each for the Vipers

As well, the Leamington Flyers crushed the St. Marys Lincolns 6-1.  Scott Florence led the Flyers with two goals.

In Junior A hockey, the Kingsville Kings downed the North York Renegades 7-2.  Ludwig Niederbach scored a hat-trick for the Kings.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
