Spitfires Making Memorial Cup Bid

The Windsor Spitfires are officially applying to host the 2017 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

The organization submitted its Letter of Intent and Standard Bid Application today, as required by the OHL and Canadian Hockey League.

The bidding deadline is Wednesday.

The Spits will find out on March 2 if they've been chosen to make a formal bid presentation to the CHL, which would go April 18 in Toronto.

President Bob Boughner says, "At the end of the day, if we are selected to present, we will take our experience from previous bid applications, along with our resources and efforts to represent our city, fans and organization to the selection committee."
