Essex Eyeing Another Schmalz Cup Victory

The Essex 73's kick off their bid for back-to-back Schmalz Cups tonight, as they host Dorchester in the tournament's quarter-finals.

The Dolphins finished first in the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League, with a regular season record of 35-5-0-0.

Both Dorchester and Essex were taken to game seven of their respective league finals after going undefeated through the first two rounds.

This is the Dolphins' second trip to the Schmalz Cup tournament. They lost in the quarterfinals back in 2013-14.

Essex has won a record seven Schmalz Cup titles, four of which have come since 2002.
