2016 Sports HOF Inductees

The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame has announced the 2016 inductees.

Chairman of the board, Harold Gillies says there are four categories the inductees are chosen from, but this time, there was more than one selection for the "Builder" category.

"Every once in a while a vote comes out to a tie," says Gillies. "We have a selection committee of 13 people who have been involved in sports in the Chatham-Kent area --they have volunteered to serve on that committee and they view the applications and then they vote on them."

This year, Minor Baseball Executive Linda Lewis and volleyball coach and administrator Randy Bartlett will both be inducted into the Hall of Fame under the Builder Category.

The other inductees include:

Modern Athlete - Marcia Thiesen, volleyball player

Athlete Legend - Juli Elders, track and field

Team - 1970 Chatham-Kent Concretes Sr. "A" Baseball team

The annual dinner and induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 15 at the WISH Centre in Chatham.

Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children under the age of 10, and go on sale at the WISH Centre August 1st.
