Maroons Dodge Avalanche In GOJHL Showcase

The Chatham Maroons edged the Ancaster Avalanche 5-4 on Saturday during the GOJHL Showcase in London.

After no scoring in the first period, Ancaster scored 3:54 into the second to take the lead. However, the Maroons scored three in a row before the end of the period to gain the advantage. The Avalanche battled back and retook a 4-3 lead, but Chatham scored two of their own in the final two minutes to earn the win.

Maroons captain Steven Beenackers led his team with two goals, while Nolan VandenBoorn, Josh Barraclough and Keegan Macvoy each scored one.

The Maroons continue the regular the season on Sunday when they take on the Waterloo Siskins in London at 10:45am.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
