Sports Briefs – September 13, 2016

Pinch-hitter Ezequiel Carrera hit a tiebreaking solo home run in the eighth inning and Jose Bautista had a two-run shot in the sixth as the Blue Jays beat Tampa Bay 3-2.

The Red Sox still have a two-game lead on Toronto atop the A-L East after a 12-2 smashing of Baltimore.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are one game back of the Orioles for the second A-L wild card after Detroit doubled up Minnesota 4-2. Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera both hit home runs for the Tigers.

Carlos Hyde ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns as the San Francisco 49ers spoiled the Rams' first game since moving back to Los Angeles with a 28-0 victory.

In other NFL action, Ben Roethlisberger threw three touchdown passes to lead the Steelers to a 38-16 victory over the Redskins in Washington.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
