Sports Briefs - September 16, 2016

Josh Donaldson went 3 for 3 with two doubles and scored two runs as the Blue Jays beat the Angels 7-2. This was Donaldson first game back since missing three games due to a hip injury. Toronto also got offence from Russell Martin, who hit a three-run homer.

The Jays remain tied with Baltimore for the two A-L wild cards and are also two games behind Boston in the East standings after the Red Sox rallied to beat the Yankees 7-5.

Meanwhile -- the Tigers were unable to gain any ground in the race for the second A-L wild card after falling 5-1 to Minnesota. Detroit is two games back of the Orioles and Blue Jays.

Ryan Fitzpatrick led the New York Jets to a 37-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night football. Matt Forte scored three touchdowns for the Jets. Fitzpatrick finished 24 of 34 for 374 yards and a 5-yard touchdown pass to Eric Decker.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
