Junior Hockey Wrap Up - September 25, 2016

It took overtime for the Essex 73s to defeat the Amherstburg Admirals 6-5 at the Libro Credit Union Centre.

Eric Shaw lit the lamp with 64 gone in the extra period.  It was his second goal of the contest.   Adam Gaiarin and Anthony Cristofaro each had two assists for the 73s.

Cory Burns had two goals for the Admirals, while James Brooks and Dylan Muzzatti each had two assists.  Essex's Dalton Langlois received a game misconduct in the second period for abuse of officials.

Tyler Ryan of the 73s stopped 22 out of 27 Amherstburg shots.

Jake Nimmo scored two goals and added three assists as the Lakeshore Canadiens beat the Blenheim Blades 6-2 at Blenheim Memorial Arena.

Nimmo and Lucas Gignac shut out the Blades with goals in the first period.  Mejoe Gasparovic added a goal in the second period and contributed two assists.

Owen Bateman and Keir Cumming scored for Blenheim, both those goals coming in the second period.  Mitch Topliffe turned away 22 of Blenheim's 24 shots on goal.

Blenheim plays host to Amherstburg on Thursday while Lakeshore takes on Essex Friday at the Atlas Tube Centre.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
