Maroons Edge Nationals 3-2

The Chatham Maroons scored a 3-2 victory over the first place London Nationals Wednesday night.

The Maroons took an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Nolan VandenBoorn 2:43 into the first, however, London was able to tie things up with a goal from Austin Kemp in the second. The Nationals’ Kyle Dawson put London into the lead with a goal 31 seconds into the final frame. But Michael Douglas and Alec Mackenzie scored one each to allow Chatham to retake the lead and earn the win.

Mackenzie's game winning goal was also his first of the season.

"It just happened so fast, I was happy I got the monkey off my back. It was a big goal for the team," says Mackenzie.

On Friday, the Maroons are back on the ice to take on the Stars in St. Thomas. And then on October 5, the Nationals face the Sarnia Legionnaires at home at 7:30pm.
