Sports Briefs - September 29, 2016

The Blue Jays' lead atop the AL wild-card standings is down to one game with a 3-2 loss to Baltimore. Toronto closer Roberto Osuna gave up a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning.

Meanwhile -- Miguel Cabrera hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth as the Tigers posted a rain-shortened 6-3 victory over Cleveland. Detroit trails the Orioles by one game for the AL's second wild card.

And the Yankees staved off playoff elimination with a 5-3 victory over the Red Sox. Boston clinched the AL East title anyway with Toronto's loss to Baltimore.

In NHL pre-season action -- Clachan native Travis Konecny had a goal and an assist in the Philadelphia Flyers' 2-0 victory over New Jersey.

Elsewhere, the Detroit Red Wings beat the Boston Bruins 5-1.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
