Jr. Hockey Wrap Up – September 30, 2016

The Leamington Flyers shutout the St. Marys Lincolns 4-0 on Friday.

Brett Vorshuk, Scott Florence, Josh Pope-Ferguson and Broden Meloche all scored once for Leamington.

The Flyers are at home on Thursday to take on the St. Thomas Stars at 7:10pm.

In PJHL action, the Dresden Kings dropped an 8-5 decision to the Petrolia Flyers.

Dillon Liberty and Macks Holmes scored two goals each for the Kings, while Kevin Ritzer had one.

The Kings face off against the Admirals in Amherstburg on Sunday at 7pm.

As well, the Essex 73's edged the Lakeshore Canadiens 2-1 in overtime.

Lakeshore forward Brandon Ireland and Essex forward Tyler Boughner both scored in the first period to tie the game. After no scoring in the second and third periods, Anthony Cristofaro scored the game winner for the 73's in OT.

The 73's will take on the Wallaceburg Lakers at home on Tuesday at 7pm. And then on Wednesday, the Canadiens battle the Lakers at 7:30pm.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
