Sports Briefs - October 6, 2016

The San Francisco Giants are moving on to the National League Division Series. Madison Bumgarner allowed just four hits and zero runs through nine innings and Conor Gillaspie hit a three-run home run as San Francisco beat the New York Mets 3-0 in the N-L wild card game. The Giants will now face the Cubs, starting tomorrow.

In other baseball news -- the man in a photo that's allegedly responsible for throwing a beer can on the field during the Blue Jays' playoff game against Baltimore, has stepped forward and identified himself. Ken Pagan says that he's the man in the photo and has contacted Toronto police. However, he is also maintaining his innocence.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
