Sports Briefs - October 18, 2016

The Blue Jays are in some serious trouble after dropping Game 3 of the American League Championship Series to Cleveland Monday night. Mike Napoli and Jason Kipnis both hit home runs en route to beating Toronto 4-2.

Cleveland now has a 3-0 series lead and a chance to eliminate the Jays in Game 4 Tuesday afternoon.

It took them three games, but the Detroit Red Wings have their first win of the season.

Defenceman Mike Green had a hat trick for the Red Wings as they beat the Ottawa Senators 5-1 in the team's final home opener at Joe Louis Arena.

In other NHL action -- David Pastrnak scored his fourth goal of the season as the Bruins beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-1.

In Junior C hockey -- the Essex 73's doubled up the Wheatley Sharks 4-2. Tyler Ryan made 21 saves to pick up the win.

In Monday Night Football action -- David Johnson rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns as the Arizona Cardinals hammered the New York Jets 28-3.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
