Sports Briefs - October 25, 2016

Former Blackhawks forward Kris Versteeg scored the lone goal of the shootout in the seventh round to give Chatham's TJ Brodie and the Calgary Flames a 3-2 win over Chicago -- that's Calgary's second win of the season.

Elsewhere -- Brendan Gallagher scored late in the third period as the Montreal Canadiens beat Clachan-native Travis Konecny and the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 to extend their winning streak to four games.

Former Broncos QB Brock Osweiler didn't exactly have a warm welcome in Denver.

He was constantly harassed while throwing for just 131 yards as Denver downed the Houston Texans 27-9 on Monday Night Football. It was Osweiler's first meeting with the Broncos since he left the team to sign with Houston.

The Toronto Blue Jays are planning to extend qualifying offers to sluggers Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion. The team has a five-day window after the end of the World Series to extend offers and players then have a week to accept or explore free agency.
