Jr. Hockey Wrap Up – October 27, 2016

The Leamington Flyers shutout the St. Marys Lincolns 8-0 in Junior B hockey action Thursday night.

Brett Vorshuk led Leamington with two goals, while Broden Meloche, Cale Phibbs, Griffin Robinson, Dallas Maurovic, Liam Hogan and Zak Parlette all had one.

The Flyers are back on the ice on Saturday to battle the Lambton Shores Predators at 7:30pm.

As well, the LaSalle Vipers fell 4-1 to the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Liam MacDougall scored LaSalle's only goal.

The Vipers are on home ice on November 2 to take on the Lambton Shores Predators at 7pm.

In the PJHL, the Wheatley Sharks scored a 5-3 victory over the Blenheim Blades.

Mitchell Prudence was top scorer for Wheatley with two goals, while Eric Prudence, Delaney MacDonald and Curtis Rodrigues scored one each.

The Blades head to Mooretown on Saturday to take on the Flags at 7:30pm. And then on Monday, the Sharks return home to face off against the Flags at 7pm.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
