Maroons Lose In Double OT

One overtime wasn't enough to decide a tough fought game between the Chatham Maroons and Strathroy Rockets.

Steve Griggs scored the winner, his second of the night, for the Rockets 4:48 into the second overtime period for the 4-3 win at West Middlesex Memorial Arena on Saturday night.

The Rockets carried a 2-1 lead into the third period even though the Maroons had fired 27 shots on net through two frames including an unsuccessful penalty shot.

Things got more difficult for the Maroons as the Rockets scored on the powerplay to extend their lead to 3-1. But, the Maroons were able to force overtime with goals from Kevin Gursoy and Josh Barraclough, both assisted by Austin Thompson.

Brendan Johnston made 48 saves in the loss.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
