Sports Briefs - November 14, 2016

In the NHL -- the Ottawa Senators lost 2-1 in overtime to Minnesota -- the Vancouver Canucks rallied for a 5-4 overtime win against Dallas -- the Winnipeg Jets beat LA 3-2 -- the Edmonton Oilers lost 3-1 to the New York Rangers -- and the Montreal Canadiens fell to the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2.

In the NFL -- Marcus Mariota threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns as Tennessee routed the Green Bay Packers 47-25.

Elsewhere, the Seattle Seahawks spoiled the Patriots' return from a bye week with a 31-24 win over New England in the late game.

The Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills had the week off.

Sean Whyte kicked a 9-yard field goal with seven seconds left as Edmonton beat the Hamilton Ticats 24-21. The Eskimos will face Ottawa next week in the CFL East final.

Meanwhile -- the BC Lions beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 32-31 to advance to the West Final against Calgary.

Matt Kenseth looked like he was going to win NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix, but it went to overtime, and Joey Logano raced his way into the championship finale. Kyle Busch finished second to earn the final playoff spot.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
