Sports Briefs - November 17, 2016

Another solid outing for Calgary Flames goaltender Chad Johnson -- he made 20 saves as the Calgary Flames beat Arizona 2-1 in overtime. Johnson was coming off a shutout win over the Minnesota Wild.

In the only other NHL game last night, the Capitals dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins en route to a 7-1 win in Washington.

In the NBA -- Steph Curry scored 35 points to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Raptors 127-121 in Toronto. DeMar DeRozan had 34 points for the Raptors.

Meanwhile -- the Knicks held on for a 105-102 victory over the Pistons. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope finished with 21 points for Detroit.

In MLB news -- Washington's Max Scherzer won the National League Cy Young award as the league's top pitcher. The former Detroit Tiger is just the sixth pitcher in MLB history to win the award in both leagues.

The AL honour went to go to Boston's Rick Porcello, who beat out Tigers ace Justin Verlander in a close vote.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
