Sports Briefs - November 22, 2016

In the NHL -- Canadian teams posted mixed results last night.

Matthew Tkachuk had a goal and an assist for the Calgary Flames, but they still lost to 4-2 to the Buffalo Sabres.

Elsewhere -- Cam Talbot posted his third shutout of the season, making 31 saves as the Edmonton Oilers topped the Chicago Blackhawks 5-0.

In the NFL -- Oakland QB Derek Carr threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as the Raiders finished off a successful trip to Mexico City with a 27-20 victory over Houston on Monday Night Football.

In the NBA -- the Detroit Pistons dropped their fourth straight, falling to Houston 99-96.

Meantime -- Kyle Lowry led the Raptors with 27 points as Toronto lost to the LA Clippers 123-115.

In other NBA news -- the league has upheld a controversial decision from the Toronto Raptors' loss to the Kings in Sacramento on Sunday night. Officials with the league say they agree with game officials that Terrence Ross's buzzer-beater was too late to force overtime.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
