Auston Matthews scored twice, but the Toronto Maple Leafs still fell 5-4 in a shootout to New Jersey.

Those goals broke a 13-game scoring drought for the Leafs' no. 1 overall draft pick.

In other NHL action -- Gustav Nyquist scored in regulation and the shootout as the Detroit Red Wings ended their four game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Buffalo -- the Edmonton Oilers beat the Avalanche 6-3 -- Rodney's Bo Horvat scored in the Vancvouer Canucks 4-1 win over Arizona -- the Winnipeg Jets lost 3-1 to Minnesota -- the Calgary Flames shutout Columbus 2-0.

In the OHL -- the London Knights lost 2-1 to Owen Sound -- while the Sarnia Sting was doubled up by Kitchener, 6-3.

In the NBA -- DeMar DeRozan scored 21 of his 24 points in the third quarter as the Toronto Raptors beat Houston 115-102 to snap a two-game skid.

Elsewhere -- the Detroit Pistons snapped their four game slide with a 107-84 win over Miami.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
