Sports Briefs - December 7, 2016

Henrik Zetterberg scored the game-winner in the shootout as the Detroit Red Wings completed their comeback to beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3.

Jets rookie Patrik Laine scored his league-leading 17th goal of the season in the loss.

Elsewhere -- the Calgary Flames got by the Stars 2-1 to win their fourth in a row -- the Montreal Canadiens blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 in overtime to St. Louis -- New Jersey beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 -- and the Buffalo Sabres got by the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in overtime.

In the NBA -- Tobias Harris scored 22 points as the Detroit Pistons earned their fourth win in five games with a 102-91 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Andre Drummond had a double-double for the Pistons, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

In the NFL -- Running back Joique Bell is back with the Detroit Lions. Bell played four years with the Lions before being released during the off-season.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
