Jr. Hockey Wrap Up – January 5, 2017

The Leamington Flyers downed the LaSalle Vipers 5-3 in Junior B hockey action on Thursday.

Scott Florence, Nicolas Mainella, Griffin Robinson, Brett Vorshuk and Brayden Klemens each scored once for Leamington.

Brett Primeau, Zack Hoffman and Chris Playfair scored the three goals for LaSalle.

The Vipers return home on January 11 to take on the Strathroy Rockets at 7pm. And on January 12, the Flyers are at home against the London Nationals at 7:10pm.

As well, the London Nationals dropped a 5-2 decision to the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Liam Fordy and Kyle Dawson both scored a goal for London.

The Nationals will travel to Chatham on Sunday to take on the Maroons at 7pm.

And in the Junior C hockey, the Wallaceburg Lakers edged the Petrolia Flyers 3-2 in overtime.

Justin Lindsay scored twice for Wallaceburg, including the game winner in OT, while Trevor Waller scored once.

The Lakers will take on the Blenheim Blades next on January 11 at 7:30pm.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
