CK Swimmers Sign Scholarships

A pair of local swimmers are heading stateside for higher education as they continue thier pursuit of excellence in and out of the pool.

Chatham Y Pool Sharks swimmer Madison Broad will be going to Toledo University while her teammate, Kendra Polewski, has committed to Findlay University in Ohio.

Broad, who was selected to multiple Canadian Junior National Teams, comes to Toledo as a freshman with NCAA Division 1-level times.

The Head Coach of Toledo University Swimming and Diving Team Jonas Perssons says he is "very impressed with Madison" adding that "she will instantly be a contributor on the team" and he is "very excited to be able to assist her in becoming an Olympian.”

Polewski is also a very accomplished swimmer with senior nationals and trials-level times.

A release from the Pool Sharks says she "exemplifies excellent sportsmanship and has incredible dedication to her training" adding they will "certainly miss Kendra next year but wish her all the best in the next chapter of her swimming career."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
