Mooretown Advances, Beats Amherstburg 1-0

The team that made the first mistake has been eliminated from the Stobbs Division playoffs.

The Integrity Amherstburg Admirals did not allow a goal until 6:42 of the third period, and it turned out to be the one ending their season.

Brett Farr of the Mooretown Flags got the puck past goalie Ben Larder and it was enough to beat the Admirals 1-0 in the deciding Game 7 of their quarterfinal playoff series.

The Flags overcame a 3-1 deficit to take the best-of-seven set.

The first period at the Libro Centre was scoreless, with the only penalty a four-on-four late in the frame. Each team had nine shots apiece.

The middle frame also went by without a goal. Zack Yott of the Addys had the only penalty in the period, for tripping. Shots were even in that period as well, with ten each.

Jake Wilkins stopped all 25 shots he faced in goal for Mooretown. Larder completed the season with a 24-save performance.

The Flags will now take on the top-seeded Lakeshore Canadiens in the best-of-seven semifinal round, with dates and times to be determined.
