Pair Of Provincial Champions From CK

Two Chatham-Kent sports teams took home provincial championships recently.

This past weekend, the Chatham-Kent Wildcats Under-12 girls team competed at the Ontario Basketball Championships in Markham, Ontario.

They defeated teams from Caledon, Ottawa, and Barrie to win the gold medal in the Division 2 Championship.

The second team to win a provincial title was the Teksavvy Novice AE Cobras.

The Cobras swept their way to an OMHA title with three straight wins against the Belle River Canadiens (2-1, 2-1, 4-3).

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
