Jr. hockey wrap-up – October 5, 2018

The Essex 73's dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Lakeshore Canadiens on Friday.

Matt Smith scored the game-winner in OT, while Hunter Bailey, Everett Parent and Eric Larue all scored once for Lakeshore.

Quinn Fazekas, Adam Gaiarin and Michael Vieira scored the three goals for Essex.

The 73's will try to bounce back on Tuesday when they return home to battle the Blenheim Blades at 7 p.m. And then on Wednesday, the Canadiens are in Mooretown to take on the Flags at 8 p.m.

As well, the Dresden Kings edged the Mooretown Flags 4-3 in overtime.

Nolen Vandenboorn scored the game-winning goal for Dresden in OT, while Cory Lucier scored twice and Lucas Spence scored once.

The Kings will travel to Amherstburg on Sunday to face off against the Admirals at 7 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
