Jr. hockey wrap-up – October 11, 2018

The Leamington Flyers topped the Strathroy Rockets 5-1 in GOJHL action on Thursday.

Ryan Gagnier led Leamington with two goals, while Preston Corp, Dylan Weston and Michael Andrews each scored once.

The Flyers are on home ice again on Sunday to battle the Sarnia Legionnaires at 2:10 p.m.

As well, the LaSalle Vipers fell 2-1 in overtime to the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Zane Dalpe scored LaSalle's only goal of the game.

The Vipers are back on the ice on Sunday to take on the Maroons in Chatham at 7 p.m.

And in Junior C hockey, the Dresden Kings edged the Petrolia Flyers 4-3 in overtime.

Nolen Vandenboorn scored twice for Dresden including the game-winner in OT, while Bayly Fryfogle and Lucas Spence both scored one goal.

The Kings return home on Friday to face off against the Essex 73's at 7:30 p.m.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
