Jr. hockey wrap-up – January 29, 2019

The Leamington Flyers edged the Komoka Kings 2-1 in double overtime on Tuesday.

Wyatt O'Neil scored the game-winner for Leamington in the second OT frame, and Josh King scored once during regular play.

The Flyers return home on Thursday to battle the Kings again at 7:10 p.m.

The Essex 73's topped the Blenheim Blades 4-1 in their final regular season game

Josh Pope-Ferguson led Essex with two goals, while Luke Gecse and Owen Meyerink each scored once.

Bailey Smith scored the single goal for Blenheim.

The Blades are in Wheatley on Wednesday to take on the Sharks. The playoff schedule has yet to be announced for the 73's.

The Wheatley Sharks dropped a 4-1 decision to the Dresden Kings.

Nolen Vandenboorn, Eric Carter, Kenny Chisholm and Darien Davis all scored once for Dresden.

Alixe Saliba scored the single goal for Wheatley.

The Sharks are at home on Wednesday to take on the Blades for their final regular season game at 7:30 p.m. The playoff schedule has yet to be announced for the Kings.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
