Jr. hockey wrap-up – February 5, 2019

The Lakeshore Canadiens topped the Wheatley Sharks 7-3 in their first-round playoff series opener on Tuesday.

Hunter Bailey, Steven Sartor, Jake Nimmo, Jarrett Tazzman, Tycen Chittle, Mitch Chittle and Brandon Ireland all scored once for Lakeshore.

Braedon Caetano, Dawson Iles and Lucas Bersuk scored the three goals for Wheatley.

The two teams are back on the ice on Wednesday for Game 2. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. in Wheatley.

And the Essex 7-3 hammered the Petrolia Flyers 7-2 in Game 1 of their best-of-seven playoff series on Friday.

Jack Sanko and Bryce Ryan led Essex with two goals each, while Josh Pope-Ferguson, Michael Vieira and William Stadder each scored one goal.

The 73's are in Petrolia on Thursday to battle the Flyers in Game 2 at 7:30 p.m.

OHL preseason game in Watford sold out

The matchup between the London Knights and Erie Otters is taking place on Saturday at 4 p.m., and is a fundraiser for upgrades to the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre.
