Blues' Armstrong, Ginnell bringing Stanley Cup to Sarnia

Sarnia's Doug Armstrong is bringing the Stanley Cup to Sarnia later this month.

The general manager of the 2019 champion St. Louis Blues and amateur scout, Sarnia native Dan Ginnell will be special guests at a celebration Friday, July 26 outside Limbo Lounge.

They will have the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy with them.

The Bayside Mall entrance at Lochiel Street east of Christina Street will be closed to traffic for the event from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Armstrong was the architect of the Blues team that beat the Boston Bruins in seven games to win the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Clinton Ontario's Ryan O'Reilly was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as most valuable player in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Everyone is welcome to attend the celebration and photos can be taken with the trophies for a $5 donation. Proceeds will support Sarnia minor hockey.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
