Spitfires trade forward to Flint for two picks

The Windsor Spitfires have made a roster move as the preseason skates forward.

The OHL club announced Thursday that it had traded forward Coulson Pitre to the Flint Firebirds. Flint is sending back to Windsor a first-round 2023 draft pick and a conditional pick in the sixth round. The conditions were not announced.

Spitfires General Manager Bill Bowler said the move was made to address depth at forward.

"Coulson is an OHL calibre player, and this gives him an opportunity to play in our league," said Bowler. "We wish him the best in Flint."

Pitre played for the Richmond Hill Coyotes before being drafted by Windsor in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. The Stouffville, Ontario native sat out the 2020-2021 season after it was cancelled due to COVID-19 but was invited to this year's training camp.

The Spitfires' preseason continues on September 17 when they visit the Sarnia Sting. Windsor will open the regular season against the Sting at home on October 7.
