Chatham Sports Hall of Fame presents bursaries

Four local high school graduates have been recognized for their contributions to athletics off the court.

The winners of the 2025 Chatham Sports Hall of Fame bursaries are Zach Hoogstad from Chatham Christian High School, Bella Beausejour from Chatham-Kent Secondary School, Ava Van Horn from John McGregor Secondary School, and Antonio Gernandes from Ursuline College Chatham.

The award recognizes students in a non-playing capacity, who have given their time through coaching, managing, scoring, timing, fundraising, or serving with the student athletic society to improve the school's athletic program.

The winners were chosen by their respective schools.

The award comes with a certificate and a $300 bursary. They were presented to the winner at their recent graduation or athletic award ceremonies.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
