Maroons to host breast cancer awareness night

The Chatham Maroons will be wearing pink later this month for a good cause.

The team will host a "Breast Cancer Awareness Night" on October 26, when it takes on the LaSalle Vipers.

The players will wear pink jerseys, donated by Simply Vinyl Signs & Graphics and Sal & Sons, during the game.

After the game, each jersey will be autographed and then auctioned off, with all the proceeds going to The Breast Buddies. This is a group of breast cancer survivors who've taken up the sport of dragon boat racing to help empower people with the disease and bring awareness.

An on-ice tribute for The Breast Buddies will happen before the game.

A silent auction will also be held to raise funds for The Breast Buddies.

Some of the prizes include tickets to see the Saginaw Spirit, Windsor Spitfires, and the Detroit Red Wings.
