Maroons double up Strathroy for sixth straight win

The Chatham Maroons have won six straight games after doubling up the Strathroy Rockets.

The teams faced off in Chatham on Sunday, with the Maroons winning 6-3.

Opening the scoring in the first period was the Maroons' Jaxon Priddle. His seventh goal of the season came on the power play from Trevor Zanutto and Boris Genov.

Max Skinner extended the lead later in the period with his seventh goal. Getting the assists were Aidan Edwards and Josh Harding.

Another power play goal in the second period, this time from Alexander Lisi, gave the Maroons a 3-0 lead. Lisi's fourth goal was assisted by Ewan McChesney and Priddle.

Strathroy was able to get back into the game with two goals before the second intermission. The first was scored by Zachary LeBlanc and the second by William Janicek.

Carter Chadwick would give the Maroons some breathing room early in the third period with another power play goal. His ninth of the season was assisted by Kaden Sienko and Gensen Geldart.

LeBlanc later scored his second of the game for Strathroy, but that was as close as they would get to tying the game.

Harding would score his second goal of the season from Edwards before Zanutto got his 16th goal from McChesney and Lisi. Zanutto's goal was also scored on the power play, giving the Maroons four in the game.

Getting the win in net for the Maroons was Samuel DiBlasi, who stopped 22 of 25 shots.

The Maroons' record for the season now sits at 12-2-0-2.

The team's next game will be on Wednesday on the road against the London Nationals. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
