Apartment Fire Displaces Dozens

Two people are being treated in hospital for serious injuries sustained in a fire at an Oxford St. apartment building.

Fire crews responded to a call just before noon today for a blaze  in a unit on the second level of a three story building.

The building houses those with disabilities, many of them needed help getting out safely. All 29 residents are displaced and are being sent to a nearby community centre for the time being.

Officials say it is unclear how the fire started and the investigation is on-going.

Damage is estimated to be roughly $150,000.

Oxford St. was closed between First St. and Highbury Ave. for several hours, but has since been reopened.
