It's doubtful there will ever be another Pink Floyd tour.
But Floyd fans will get a chance to hear some of the band's best songs played live later this week, and support a great cause while doing it.
A group of local musicians will hit the stage this Friday and Saturday for the 4th edition of the Wish You Were Here tribute concerts at the Grand Theatre.
The shows raise money for prostate cancer research in London. The first concert was organized to pay tribute to Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, who died of cancer in 2008. In the first three years, close to $90,000 have been raised.
Organizers decided to add a second show this year.
"Last year we sold out the Grand Theatre and we had more demand for tickets than it could hold," says guitarist Jesse Hildebrand-Nestor. "There were still people trying to get tickets after it was sold out"
Hildebrand-Nestor says there will be something for every Floyd fan this year, from the "greatest hits" of The Wall to more obscure songs from albums like Animals.
The band also plans to perform the entire Dark Side of the Moon album in the second set.
"For their last tour in 1994, they (Pink Floyd) did Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety for the second half on a lot of nights. I thought that it was a good connection between that and, sort of, in celebration of the 20 years since that last tour," says Hildebrand-Nestor.
