Gubbels Makes Brief Video Court Appearance

The man charged with murder in the deaths of his Warwick Township parents will be back in court Friday morning after a very brief appearance today.

Jeremy Gubbels of London appeared from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre and was remanded in custody until November 7 when he will appear again by video.

The 26-year-old is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of his parents. He was arrested July 13 shortly after the body of his father, 54-year-old Mario Gubbels, was found in London.

Earlier that night, the body of his mother, 55-year-old Susan Gubbels, had been found in her home in the 5800-block of Arkona Rd.

A ban has been imposed on the publication or broadcast of information given during the court proceedings.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
