Transport Rollover Closes EB 402

A London woman is charged with careless driving after a collision caused a tractor trailer to rollover, closing the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 402 for a few hours.

Just after 9am on Friday, the OPP say a Chevy van heading west tried to pass a tractor trailer near Seed Rd.

The van struck the transport and both vehicles left the roadway, each crashing into the grassy median. Police had to close the eastbound lanes for three hours to remove the van, the transport truck, and the truck's load of soybeans.

The driver of the transport, a 42-year-old Southwold man, wasn't hurt.

The 50-year-old London woman driving the van also wasn't hurt. She has been charged with careless driving.

Middlesex County OPP reminds all motorists to slow down and drive with extra care and attention, as weather and road conditions can be unpredictable, and challenging at this time of year.

Areas to the west of London were hit with several flurries Friday morning, causing near whiteout conditions along Hwy. 402 and other roads in western Middlesex and Lambton counties.
