Remembrance Day Ceremonies Draw A Crowd

Thousands gathered in London's Victoria Park to pay their respects to those who fought and died for our freedoms.

Members of the Canadian Armed Forces led veterans, police and firefighters from the Delta Armouries on Dundas St. to the Cenotaph in Victoria Park for the wreath laying ceremony.

Veterans are saying it is the biggest crowd they have ever seen on November 11.

Raymond Lachance served five years in Germany during the Cold War and says seeing the turn out brings mixed emotions.

"It's very appreciated, but I think the only reason we had the thousands of people is on account of the two soldiers who died. Normally, we do not have this many people, but today it is unreal."

The Canadian Forces will name two military bases after Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Office Patrice Vincent. The pair died in separate attacks on Canadian soil last month.

The Royal Canadian Regiment Museum at Wolsely Barracks also hosted Remembrance Day ceremonies.
