Holiday shopping just got a little bit cheaper as the City of London has decided to offer free parking in some areas for the rest of the month.
Parking in the Downtown core, Richmond Row, and Old East Village shopping districts will be free at specially marked meters during the month of December. The signs read "Free Parking - Courtesy of the City of London". Pay ‘n Display meters that qualify for free parking indicate two hours free on the machine.
Meters have time limits and those must still be observed. Anyone parking longer than the posted time could end up with a parking ticket. The free parking doesn't apply to parking lots.
