The Gift Of Hearing

After an overwhelming response to a holiday giveaway, Bentley Hearing Services is subsidizing the cost of hearing aids for many Londoners.

Four people are getting hearing aids at no cost after writing an essay to the company detailing what it would mean to have their hearing back. The company then decided to subsidize the cost for many of the others who entered.

"It makes us feel wonderful, it makes us feel like we're making a difference. Not everyone wants to come in and get their hearing checked and get hearing aids because for a lot of people it means you're getting old," says Owner Barbara Bentley. "There still does seem to be a stigma attached to wearing hearing aids, but the four people selected are truly thrilled to be hearing the things they've been missing and it makes us feel good."

Bentley says they will continue with the holiday giveaway next year.
