Plan For A Safe New Year's Eve

Police are asking you to plan for a safe ride home tonight before leaving the house to ring in 2015.

Officers will be setting up ride programs at various locations throughout the city to combat drinking and driving on the biggest party night of the year.

"Regardless of where you're going, it's not only important to plan how you're going to get to the location, but how you're gong to get home as well. When you're under the influence of alcohol maybe you're judgement may not be the greatest, it's always best to have a safe ride home," says London police Constable Ken Steeves. "We're hoping everyone will get the message in relation to how important it is to not drive after consuming alcohol and everybody will wake up in the morning with no regrets."

You can leave your car in a municipally owned parking lot for free from midnight until 1pm on New Year's Day.

Municipal lots are marked with a green "P" symbol. There are a total of 19 across London.

You can ride the bus for free starting at 8pm. The London Transit Commission is waiving all fees and extending operating hours until 1am on all regular routes.
