Gas Fireplace Suspected In House Fire

A house fire in the city's northwest on Tuesday night  is still under investigation.

London fire officials say the blaze at 2204 Jack Nash Dr. broke out just after 7pm, and started in the main floor family room, in and around a gas fireplace. Flames moved up the back wall of the home and into the attic. Firefighters had to open the wall and fireplace, and remove the eaves outside.

Union Gas and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority are investigating to determine whether the fireplace was at fault. No one was hurt and damage is estimated at $100,000.
